A massive storm is slowly and steadily blanketing the tri-state region, keeping people home on what is traditionally one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
The National Weather Service forecasts seven to 10 inches ( 18 tot 25 cm) of snow and gusts of wind up to 30 mph for the New York City area.
The brunt of the storm is expected overnight, with the white stuff tapering off in the early Sunday hours. When the snow started falling in New Jersey and New York, it came fast and hard. Gusts of wind were reported at around 25 mph in coastal areas.
The MTA was putting its fleet of snow and ice-melting machinery into action to ensure minimal disruption to services over the weekend, officials said. The city also has 350 salt spreaders, 2,000 snowplows and 250,000 tons of rock salt ready for roads.

How is it possible that every single flight had been cancelled and everything is totally delayed and the green lights are flashing on top of this page saying everything is running as usual?!?!? Worst administrators i have ever seen!

Any idea about how long are flights to Europe cancelled?

Check with your airlines people!!! I was supposed to fly to NYC tomorrow night from Seattle to arrive Mon morning. The airline called and emailed me to notify that my flight has been canceled. Even though I was not due to arrive until Mon morning, they canceled it anyway. I was able to reschedule for a flight Tues night to arrive Wed morning.

Greetings from NYC. There is currently heavy snow falling in the area and although JFK airport is open, and the runways are currently operational (as of 10:15 pm eastern time on December 19), many airlines have canceled flights to and from the airport due to the storm. Therefore, please check with your airline before arriving at the airport.
